The Pandemic’s Toll on Children With Special Needs and Their Parents
February 28, 2022Julia Flitter Says Goodbye to True Blue
March 22, 2022It is hard to believe it has been 2 years since we first got really scared with the super speedy spread of the deadly virus that took over the world. We had so many questions and we still do. We had to make tough decisions, buckle down and taking deep breaths hoping it would work. We are still at it. Things are getting better, or are we just getting stronger???
We saw our True Blue Families face challenges and find the courage to keep on going. Some of our children have their immune system compromised, others have a very delicate respiratory system. Some have no underlined condition but were very confused with all the changes. Special needs families thrive in well-structured routine; COVID made us all take one day at a time. The rules changed faster than we could get used to them.
Masks became part of our work and leisure attire; hand sanitizer is still an obsession.
Paper towels?? Well, at least those are back on the shelves!
We pushed our reset buttons so often that after a while it didn’t feel refreshing at all.
Yes, it was super hard and still is in many ways. But despite of Covid, or should I say because of Covid, the True Blue Families found a way to get ahead, be creative and get stronger.
We learned to use teletherapy to keep therapy going, we organized drive thru birthdays to celebrate our kids. We stayed connected with family and friends through the computer screen. Life was optimized. Everything is now just a zoom call away.
Some families faced serious illnesses and some lost loved ones. I am sorry for your struggles. I am sorry for your loss. I hope you find the strength to keep on going. Let us know if we can help. We are here to support you.
Thank you, True Blue Families, for trusting us during these challenging times. Thank you for your positive attitude when nothing made sense. Thank you for showing us the way to be strong during challenging times. Thank you for being such amazing parents!
Things are getting better and we are getting stronger. Go True Blue Families!!!
